May Flowers

So I last posted about
my vintage linen flurry of sewing...
which I do not really tend to do.
This is why I did it!
Getting ready for our May sale.
Ahhhhh...

Linens and then some...

I have been playing with
vintage linens...

A table cloth from the 50's.
A flower seed sack from the 40's.
(My oh my...the printed tassels knock me out!)

As a painter,
this is not my normal forray!
I wanted to create some pillows
 for a toile loveseat.
(Traditional blue and yellow toile, too boring for me.)
To make it
POP
and
sizzle
for summer fun.

The feel of the fabric...
soft and time worn.

The colors...
bold
and full of
 summer's glory.
(I am normally drawn toward soft taupes, robin's egg blues  and a not-so-green green,
so this is a surprise punch in my always soft toned brain!)

The sound of my
sewing machine...
taking me back
to my
7th grade
Home Economics class
(that sounds so funny to me still!)
where I first really learned
the basics of  sewing.

Sweet,
simple
and
an
unexpected
pleasure.

OH...

AND

Thanks to all our
fabulous customers
May sale will be right around the corner!!

So...
Don't forget to
Find your unexpected pleasure...

A Story to tell...

This dresser has a story.
This dresser's story did not begin with me.
It had a life before...wish I knew its history.
Some cultures believe the spirit stays with a piece...
This spirit is sweet.
I met it in a barn...
top off
 burn marks
black rings
no handles
drawer slats off
A loss cause?
OH NO!
I had in mind a resue.
I had to do many a things...
attach top, saw out drawer front,
pull apart two drawers, reuse and
make shelf from said drawers to hold baskets,
paint, create new pulls, white wash baskets,

Why not add a key?
And on and on...
Now I love this little rescue and revamp.
LOVE.
How can I sell it at my next sale?
Someone else will love it too.
Onto my next rescue.
Create.
Something.
From.
Nothing.
Passion.

Hello from Texas

We are on an adventure...
in Texas seeing family.
Just the girls...husband and biggest boy at home.
We are really a transported flock,
 originally from Michigan but
my sis made the move with husband and children years ago
and is really a "Texan" now.
Along came my Mom too to make her nest.
So now it is sister and her ENTIRE clan.
I got to see my niece's babies...
I am a GREAT AUNT many times over!!
How fun is that?
Meeting wives and husbands and friends, oh my.
It is so hard being so far.
I miss them all and I am still here!
Auntie Molly loves you all.
The Porter Clan and my Mom in Florida!!
